The Regional English Language Officer at Al Falah School

Al Falah School, a new school in Hassi Mefsouk, a rural area in Oran state, was honored to receive the visit of    Mr. Russel Barczyk, the new Regional English Language Officer and Ms. Lamia Lachtar, the representative of the US Embassy of Algiers.

The Regional English Language Offices (RELOs) manage programs to promote English Language teaching and learning around the world. The RELOs conduct needs analysis, offer professional guidance as well as online support for teachers of English. The RELOs provide English Access Microscholarships program for economically disadvantaged students aged 13-20. In addition to students, the RELOs support teachers of English with professional development opportunities.

The aim of the visit to Al Falah School is to discuss the various activities of ELT@lgeria Team and the successful partnership with iEARN USA since the year 2013. The focus was also on planning future activities that the school will host for both students and teachers. It was a very productive meeting as the team demonstrated great collaboration from the school visit to the presentation of iEARN@lgeria progress to the sustainability of ELT@lgeria network after a decade of online achievements. Hopefully, more activities will be held to promote the English language and support English language teachers and learners throughout Algeria.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the US Embassy of Algiers and mainly Ms. Lamia Lachtar, the Cultural Affairs Specialist for planning the meeting, Al Falah School owners, Mr. Habib Teffah and his son for hosting the meeting and Mr. Mustapha Louznadji, the school manager for the organization of the event, and Kheira Mezough, iEARN@lgeria Country Coordinator, for her assistance.

After a decade of online achievements, ELT@lgeria has got an office now, and Al Falah school is our new partner!
